Client Procedures – Furniture Assist

Arrival & Check-In

  • Parking: A volunteer will direct you where to park in our lot. Vehicles or trailers longer than 20 feet may need to park on the street due to space limitations.
  • Check-in location: Identify yourself to the check-in volunteer in the back parking lot. They will verify your appointment for this date and time.
  • Vehicle requirement: Your vehicle must be present before you can enter the warehouse. We cannot admit clients whose transportation has not yet arrived.
  • Language assistance: Clients who do not speak English must bring someone to translate during their appointment.

Inside the Warehouse

  • Party size limit: Only the client and one additional person may enter the warehouse. All other members of your party must wait outside for safety reasons.
  • Children: Young children should not be brought to appointments. We are moving large furniture items throughout the warehouse, which creates an unsafe environment for children. Clients with young children may be denied access.
  • Item recording: Our volunteer at the back door will document all items you take so your referring agency knows if you need additional assistance.
  • Bring supplies: You are responsible for bringing any ropes, tarps, blankets, or other materials needed to secure your items during transport.

Item Availability & Restrictions

  • Available inventory depends entirely on what was donated that week. High-demand items such as beds are always in short supply.
  • Quantity limits may be placed on certain items (couches, beds, dressers) to ensure we can serve all clients scheduled that day.
  • All items must be removed at the time of your appointment. We cannot store furniture for later pickup.
NO SMOKING, EATING, OR DRINKING ON THE PROPERTY AT ANY TIME

Important Policies

Missed appointments: Clients who do not show for their scheduled appointment and have not called to cancel will NOT be given a new appointment.

Cancellations: If you cannot make your appointment, you must call 973-868-6007 AND LEAVE A MESSAGE BEFORE your scheduled arrival time.

Volunteer authority: Our volunteers will resolve all conflicts and their decisions are final. We reserve the right to deny service if any member of your party does not follow these guidelines.

Our goal is to help the maximum number of clients possible while maintaining a safe environment for everyone. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

Questions or Need to Cancel?

As an all-volunteer organization, we are unable to always answer the phone — if you need to reschedule or cancel, please leave a voicemail and we will return your call.
